ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports via twitter that Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier said that quarterback Brett Favre is officially out for Monday Night's game against the Bears. Rookie Joe Webb has been named the starter. There are no plans to put Favre on injured reserve, though the quarterback is still experiencing pain when he tries to throw the ball. Favre will miss his second straight game after starting 297 consecutive games, a streak that ended last Monday Night against the Giants. Source: Adam Schefter: Twitter.com
I'm honestly not suprised. Favre who is 41 years old is gonna play an outdoor monday night game in the month of december in Minnesota with a bum shoulder? I don't think so.
With this being Favre's last year (YES, I do believe this is his last year forsure) and if I where a betting man, the Vikings won't re-sign Tavaris Jackson, going after Donovan McNabb isn't that bad of an idea. Even though I wouldn't give McNabb (since it really does look like the Redskins will release him, could be wrong though) anymore than maybe a 2 year contract. Perfect timing for Joe Webb with this 3 game audition to see what you have at QB for the future. It also wouldn't suprise me if the Vikings drafted a QB at some point during the 2011 draft.
