Former Steelers coach Bill Cowher finally addressed an ESPN report from last weekend that claimed the Giants, Dolphins and Texans were atop his prospective wish list of jobs for 2011. "For anyone to insinuate that I have a wish list of coaches to be fired, at this time of year, I have too much respect for the profession," Cowher, a CBS studio analyst, reportedly said during Sunday's broadcast. "I know how hard it is. I don't wish for anybody to be fired, and for someone to insinuate that I am doing that right now is disrespectful to them and I'm insulted by it." Cowher resigned his coaching position in 2006 after 15 years with the Steelers, whom he led to the Super Bowl title the year before. His wife, Kay, died last summer after a long bout with cancer, prompting speculation Cowher might be ready to return to the sidelines. "I'm not naïve enough to say that there won't be changes at the end of the year," Cowher said, "but I will address that at the end of the year." Source: Orlando Sentinel
The Cowher-to-Giants talks are really going to be heating up more than ever this week. I would love to have him coach the G-Men but we have one game left and still have a shot to clinch a playoff spot.
I think if he's going somewhere next season it's either going to be the Texans or the Giants. Anything else isn't as good a gig as he has now...
If the Giants gig is open......Houston has no shot imo. The closeness between the Rooney's and Mara's is too strong for Cowher to go elsewhere.
Cowher to the Cowboys has been ruled out weeks ago. Jerry's not going the Parcells route again. It's either New York or Houston with Miami as the dark horse.
I just hope he gets hired ANYWHERE, to get his homer, cliche-spewing self off of CBS's pregame show. Coughlin will be fired or retained based solely on how far the Giants go in the playoffs and, if they do lose in the postseason, if they get embarrassed like they did the past two weeks.
