Week in and week out I see many so called experts dismissing the Colts as a threat. I have always held the belief that the media does things like this on purpose to create stories or embellish them. When the Colts do well in the playoffs you will see the media react in a contrived and incredulous fashion. "Everybody counted them out, but they proved everybody wrong." Thats exactly how its gonna go. Thats just how the media works and I understand that but its troubling to see how many fans agree. I see fans of the jets, ravens, chiefs, steelers and even my beloved patriots talking nonsense about the colts. I hate the colts with a dirty passion but Im not dumb enough to overlook them. They still have an above average receiving corps, a great defensive and offensive line, fast linebackers... and yes Peyton Manning. As a pats fan I hope they are swiftly sent packing but the colts are a pest and their win loss isnt indicative of their skill. So to jet, raven, and chief fans I say good luck.
Thanks for the welcome. Yeah I have both a great disdain and respect for the colts and peyton manning. The afc isnt as strong as people make it out to be. Every team has its major faults. The colts stack up well against most of the afc playoff teams. The jets lack a pass rush sufficient enough to pressure peyton into mistakes. They also lack a fundamental offensive dynamic and if they get into a track meet they will be in trouble. The ravens have a steady run game but their pass game lacks the explosiveness to overcome a situation where their run game is stopped. the ravens strength is in run stop and that front 7.. if the front 7 is worn down or tired out their suspect secondary can be exploited. The steelers.. ha what do I say? Who knows whats going on with the steelers? The steelers dont even know. They have been uncharacteristically erratic and inconsistent this year. Usually with a team with the experience and pedigree of the steelers you assume they will pull it together come playoff time.. yet I dont get that sensation about them at all. Their defense looks average and that run game is inconsistent. If they start off slow look for them to get blown out. The chiefs seem to have the proper playoff equation. Good defense, strong run game, consistent quarterback, and dwayne bowe.. Yet they lack experience and that may prove fatal for them when every other playoff team has experience winning playoff games.. And my beloved pats... The worst defense of the afc playoff teams.. they cant stop the run.. they cant apply any pressure with their pass rush.. they rely on turnovers and their offense to score 30 points.. They arent this surefire team people make them out to be.. If they dont get any turnovers they are in serious trouble... even with three picks on manning they almost lost to the colts this season.
Welcome B>M. So what you are saying is that all the teams have flaws and it's a wide open race in the AFC. I give the best chance to the Pats, but like you said, if their defense folds, it could be problems.
yep, this is a good reminder to everyone that we can't count out any playoff team ....... it IS really a whole new season. everyone is 0-0 and the teams that will do well are the ones that 'get' hot at the right time.
Can't be underestimated, but one thing is for sure, if they make the Superbowl, they would easily be amongst the craptiest teams to have made one.
