With no new contract talks and a painful heel injury that could keep him out of Sunday's season finale against the Chargers, Champ Bailey said Thursday that it has crossed his mind that he might have played his last game with the Broncos. Bailey is set to become a free agent at the end of the season. "I am still optimistic I can get something done here," Bailey said. "Obviously I don't hold all the cards in that situation. It's one of those things where I have to wait and see. If it happens it happens. If it's my last game, it's my last game." Bailey says his heel injury is progressing but he was unable to practice on Thursday. He first hurt the heel against the Seahawks in September and has played in pain on and off for the rest of the year. He will likely be a game-time decision on Sunday. "It's just one of those things where I have to be careful, because I've reaggravated it a few times but this has been the worst time since I hurt it the first time," Bailey said. "If it's not good enough for me to be as effective as I want to be, that's when I don't play. But if I can go out there and do what I do and not feel any pain, I'm going to play." Source: Denver Post
i don't see any reason for the broncos to keep him. they are in major rebuilding mode and should start from scratch.
