The Houston Texans fired defensive coordinator Frank Bush on Monday, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Sources have told Schefter that head coach Gary Kubiak will return next season. Houston ranked 30th in total defense (376.9 yards per game) and last against the pass this season (267.5). One defensive coordinator candidate who will be considered, according to the sources, is former Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips, whom Kubiak worked with in Denver. Kubiak said last week that the defense never recovered from the loss of Pro Bowl middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans, who ruptured his Achilles tendon in the sixth game.

yep, this defense has not progressed at all under kubiak and his d.c.'s and they have invested so many high draft picks in it the last several years, it's ridiculous. Maybe philips or someone can come in and fix it but the defense has been a trainwreck during kubiak's entire tenure.
