If Jason Garrett Were Black, He Would Have Already Been Named Cowboys Coach

If Jason Garrett were black, he would have been named the Dallas Cowboys' head coach immediately after Sunday's 14-13 season-ending victory against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, if Garrett were black, Jerry Jones could have simply done what Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf plans to do as early as today, according to multiple reports, and give interim coach Leslie Frazier the full-time job without conducting a single interview.Hiring Garrett is certainly in Jones' plans, and what he most likely will do."I'm certainly pleased with how he's operated the team from [the] head-coaching position," Jones said. "It was very good. He has done very well. I'm pleased we have had the positive experience since we made the change. It does help me look at what Jason is about." Garrett is getting the job.

Both the story, and comment, are dumb. I could give a heck if his skin was as hecked up colored as his hair. He's done a good job, give him the job, and just freaking let it be.

The story isn't dumb just pointless. We all know the Rooney rule must come first before you can hire your head coach.

He wasn't criticizing garrett at all, he was simply saying if we didn't have to worry about the rooney rule in which if he were black we wouldn't, he would have already had the job. The rooney rule is a bunch of bullcrap. If I were black and knew I was being interviewed just to follow a dumb rule I would be more insaulted than i would if I didn't have to be interviewed. I look forward this week to the announcment of his hire, he has and will do a damn good job. Go 'Boys

Trust me, I live in a white state, and you're telling me crap like that goes on as if I don't know. Sorry my opinion doesn't account for much, then again, who's does? I know yours goes about the same distance as mine goes. You're saying it as if black people don't get a shot though, "if he were black he probably wouldnt have been interim coach" Who the heck is leslie frazier? oh, that's right.. he was an interim coach, turned head coach. I'm the most non-racist person you will ever meet, the article is dumb, as crowned said, and king romo is dead on, it's more insulting to someone to know they don't have a chance for the job, they're just getting interviewed for the hell of some guy satisfying a rule. It's a slap in the face.

Calm down a tad, I'm saying IMO I don't think Jerry Jones would hire a black coach, I could be wrong but it's my opinion. Insulting as it may be it's true you can make rules but that doesn't mean people won't find a way to skirt the issue and still pick who they want. Black coaches aren't dumb some have even NOT interviewed for some jobs because they know they have no shot because the team already knows who they want.

Of course the best scenario is to pick the right person for the job but racism is found everywhere even in footballs hierachy.

i'm calm. :) Just I hate these threads, they're bad. Me, personal opinion, I could give a heck what color my coach is, as long as he gets the job done. Right now, Garrett is the best man for the job, it's stupid to have to interview a random black guy, to fulfill a rule, especially when the world knows who our coach will be.

I totally agree with you Inclubus but as I said unfortunately it happens. The Rooney Rule in theory is great however in life people want who they want for whatever the reason.

It was rumored that the Steelers we're going to make Ken Wisenhunt the head coach after Cowher left, but brought in Mike Tomlin per the Rooney Rule and he blew them away.

Whats the Rooney rule? I assume it prob states something about keeping black coaches in football?

You have to interview at least 2 minority coaches before making your head coach choice.

The Rooney Rule creates a double standard. I think they need to abolish it.
