Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis Confirms QB Carson Palmer Will Return In 2011

Marvin Lewis is returning next season as the Cincinnati Bengals' coach and he made it clear Wednesday in an ESPN Radio interview that Carson Palmer will be his starting quarterback in 2011. "No question in my mind that Carson Palmer is our quarterback," Lewis said in an appearance on "Mike and Mike in the Morning". "He really weathered quite a storm this year and took another step as a leader." The 31-year-old Palmer, who completed his seventh season as the Bengals' starting QB, threw for 3,970 yards and 26 touchdowns this season, but his 20 interceptions tied his career-worst total in a single season and were the most in the AFC. The Bengals slumped to a 4-12 mark, which included a 10-game losing streak, one season after winning the AFC North.

That lack of 'WR talent' had them playing better ball at the end of the season than the 2 divas did at the start - when they got away from the run they were bunk.

TO did great - the offense was a mess, Benson Palmer and the D swept the division last year, TO got them to 4-12 while racking up great stats.

yeah this was all T.O.'s fault your saying while he was doing us good the rest of the offense didn't need to do their job right cause we signed T.O., that T.O. alone should have won us games.

T.O. was about our only shinning light this year, up till he got injured when Palmer started actually doing some good.

I think T.O. is an amazing athlete, he just has some "me" issues..

It absolutely amazed me that he played at the level he did this year. Isn't he like Favre's age or some crap?? lol

Chad has done nothing but whine and complain, this year, not that he wasn't trying lol, just not doing as great as he used to, he needs to retire

 

I'm just saying that when you have a bunch of high profile dudes to catch passes and then they only sometimes catch those passes you put a tired defense on the field a lot more than would be ideal - when the Bungles went into run first mode last year with Benson their D was ferocious, this year it was toothless and every team has injuries so don't even bother with that garbage.

 

does lewis know something about his job status that we dont that makes him confirm such information? hes not under contract and looks to be on his way out

 

He's being paid to be the Head Coach for two more years...lol. That may have something to do with it.

It's gotta suck to be a Bengals fan. Here you come off yet another disappointing season and now you already know that you're going to get all the same faces back next year.

Same faces and will probably have a winning season, it's the way of the Bengals. They have a good year followed by a bad year.
