Arkansas QB Ryan Mallett's Off-Field Concerns May Affect His Draft Stock?

Discussion in 'NFL General Discussion' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jan 7, 2011.

  1. According to NFL.com's Albert Breer, "off-field concerns" are likely to affect Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett's stock in the 2011 NFL Sraft. Mallett was arrested for public intoxication as a third-year sophomore, pleaded guilty, and was later subjected to further punishment by coach Bobby Petrino. It's not just that, though. Mallett has a Jimmy Clausen-like stigma as an "entitled" personality, and has drawn comparisons to Ryan Leaf. He's going to go high in the draft, most likely, but carries plenty of risk.

Wait a college kid arrested for being drunk in public and has an ego? What has this world come to?

Sounds like some team is trying to make sure he slips down to them in the draft.

  3. There's an interview I came across of him on youtube that was posted in August 2010.

In that interview.....some of his responses come off a bit immature and doesn't conduct himself like a QB should. A field general should always conduct himself at the highest level and always show professionalism. He doesn't seem NFL-ready mentally and his personally may rub people the wrong way......like Ryan Leaf and Jimmy Clausen. Leaf is the biggest bust in the history of the NFL and Clausen is already heading toward bustville.

    You be the judge......
