Patriots WR Wes Welker Benched For Start Of Game Vs. Jets

Discussion in 'New England Patriots' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jan 16, 2011.

  1. Patriots coach Bill Belichick declined direct comment this week on Wes Welker's now infamous "foot press conference." On Sunday, the head coach's actions spoke louder than words. CBS Sports reported at the opening of their telecast for New England's divisional round matchup with the Jets that Welker has been suspended for at least the start of the Sunday's game in Foxboro. The suspension is presumably for Welker's comments to the media during the week in which he referenced feet 11 times, seemingly as a jab at Jets head coach Rex Ryan. It was not reported how long Welker's benching would last for.
