Dolphins GM Confirms QB Chad Henne Will Compete To Start In 2011

  1. Benjamin Volin of the Palm Beach Post reports via twitter that Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland confirmed on Tuesday that Chad Henne will compete for the starting quarterback job in 2011. Ireland also stated his intention to acquire a second-round pick after dealing his last year. Henne was hand-picked by the Ireland/Parcells regime two years ago, and he nearly got his head coach fired in 2010. The situation is similar to ex-49ers GM Scot McCloughan's refusal to throw in the towel on Alex Smith. Both are decent enough passers, but a conservative and turnover-prone QB is a recipe for a sub-.500 team.

Give the kid a chance damn. Two years ago he was picked. This year was his first year starting. I always say you gotta give QB's at least 3 years to get it. If they don't after that time then it's a wash!

Yeah but no. It's more like 3 years ago and he started the majority of the games last year so he has played for almost two seasons. Although he has some potential he actually did worse this year then the previously and had Marshall to throw to. He stands in the pocket to much instead of trying to make a run for it and throws picks at the most in opportune times especially when we have the momentum going to try and score.

  4. Henne will be back.

Rumor is the Fins will add veteran competition and add a rook in rounds 2-5

They love Colin Kaepernick but he would require a 2nd rounder.
