Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie went back on the attack again Wednesday night, taking more shots at the players' union and the owners for the lack of progress in the labor talks even as prominent players such as Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis attempted to portray the union as a one-minded unit. "I don't give a who about (Baltimore Ravens linebacker) Ray Lewis or (Arizona Cardinals lineman Darnell Dockett) talking about what I said," Cromartie said in a message posted on his Twitter account. "There's 10's of thousand ppl who will lose jobs. They taking our healthcare away and for players that have surgery can't even get rehab once March 3rd gets here." Lewis and Dockett, both at the Pro Bowl in Hawaii, maintained that the players will remain committed to getting the best deal possible, and their comments came in response to Cromartie's remarks from Monday, when he first blasted union leaders. "Great leaders are servants first," Lewis told ESPNNewYork.com. "That is who our leaders are. Players are not going to turn on each other." The exchange continued a week in which divisions between the two sides have become increasingly public. Wednesday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who earns nearly $10 million per year, promised to reduce his salary, as well as that of the league's top negotiator Jeff Pash, to $1 next year if there is a work stoppage. Cromartie, who will be a free agent this offseason, expressed frustration in an expletive-filled interview with reporters at his locker. "To me, you need to stop b----ing about it," Cromartie said on Monday, "and if you wanna say you're gonna get into a room and meet and greet, and say you're gonna do what you need to do, then do it." As he says he doesn't give a "who" about Ray Lewis or Darnell Dockett...maybe he needs to re-read his freaking tweets...:icon_rolleyes:
So now that he's got shut up on the football field he has to find other avenues to air his ignorance - awesome.
The more he talks, the less I'm surprised how much money for Child Support the Jets had to advance him.
I partially agree with some of his sentiments, but he is too damn stupid to realize that he needs to just STFU about it. And the Hasslebeck comments...
Wasn't it Lewis who said players aren't going to turn on each other? Cromartie never promised that. I agree 100 percent with him. Crap is getting real about no season next year and they still aren't talking with any sense of urgency. Props to Cromartie for rightfully calling them out
