It suddenly appears as if 49ers veteran David Carr, a backup this past season behind both Alex Smith and Troy Smith, who received minimal playing time, has a much better shot at being the first starter for Jim Harbaugh. For one thing, the Niners’ ability to add a veteran via free agency or trade is dramatically hindered by the league’s labor impasse — a situation currently facing every team and beyond that, Carr had his best pro success in the two years in Houston when Greg Roman, the Niners’ new offensive coordinator, was his quarterbacks coach. “If he actually started getting all the reps, it could make a difference,†the insider said of Carr, who like Alex Smith is a former No. 1-overall draft pick. “But I can’t forget (GM Trent) Baalke’s comment indicating that the next starter for the Niners will not be somebody currently on the team.†Source: Pro Football Weekly
Well qbs is harbaughs specialty, if he thinks carr gots what it takes get the guy some reps. Didnt do anything this season tho.
Harbaugh was a pretty solid QB himself back in the day...... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyZNyQQs1ok]YouTube - Journalistic Integrity - This is SportsCenter[/ame]
Honestly, with the state of the QB situation in San Fran if the locker room attendant wanted to take a shot at tossing the ball, you might as well let him. What's to hurt Jimmy Harbaugh taking a shot at helping out a QB.
We don't need to help thirty somethings in the QB dept., we need to find a QB to help win our games and a good back up, I think the team has suffered enough with crapty QBing.
