Troy Polamalu was his disruptive self this season, building on his reputation as one of the NFL's biggest defensive playmakers. Polamalu's status as arguably the best safety in football was solidified Monday when he was named The Associated Press' NFL Defensive Player of the Year, as first announced on NFL Network's "NFL Total Access." Polamalu finished the season with 63 tackles, seven interceptions, one forced fumble and one touchdown, despite being hobbled with an Achilles' tendon injury that limited him to 14 games. Polamalu led the secondary for a Pittsburgh defense that surrendered the fewest points (232) in the NFL this season. His presence boosted a run defense that ranked No. 1 in the league. Good for him - obviously I think Ed Reed deserved some serious considerations but it's tough to really speak ill of what Troy did this season.
I thinks BC what Troy means to tthe stellers....if Troy don't that d ain't the same....he isthw key to their succes
meh...if you go back in history, there's a lot of nobodies that led the league in interceptions that didn't win the MVP... Polamalu, Matthews, Harrison, Peppers...all deserved it more than Reed imo.
