Based on conversations last week, it's not difficult to see what the NFL's long-term plan is: a conference in Europe and other places. That's why it is pushing so hard for more regular-season games overseas, especially once the CBA is done. It wants to establish a base for the game and then put teams over there, likely decades down the line. The idea is to make it a true world game. Source: Boston Globe
Either way....I feel that expansion wherever is a bad thing. It just waters down the talent pool and makes the league as a whole more mediocre. How is that good business?
Probably not. That would be like renaming Coke or Pepsi. It's a brand that is so well known it again would be bad business to change.
Not at all, remember the Admirals :icon_cheesygrin: With a little more support, even from the UK, we still could have a NFLE......
NFL Europa or whatever they called it in the end? They started really as the WLAF back in the day. Amsterdam Admirals, Barcelona Dragons, London Monarchs and the Scottish Claymores all were part of NFL Europe one way or another.
The WLAF/NFLE concept got raped by the two year hiatus, as well as stadium problems. Before that, the Monarchs got average attendances of around 50,000. I think the NFL becoming international is an inevitability whether you embrace it or not. Expanding the league, whether it being teams or increased regular season isn't the way though (At least for around 10 years). The sport still has a pretty low profile over here despite the game over here, because the media coverage hasn't improved since it left the main channels back in the early 90's.
