Christina Aguilera Apologizes For Botching National Anthem At Super Bowl

Singer Christina Aguilera has issued a public apology after she botched America's National Anthem at the Super Bowl. The Grammy winner took to the field ahead of the big game on Sunday to belt out the patriotic tune, but she was left red-faced after singing the wrong lyrics just three lines into her rendition. Critics and bloggers flocked online to point out Aguilera's blunder, while footage of the mistake has already become a popular video on clip-sharing website YouTube.com. Now the singer has apologized for the incident, releasing a statement which reads: "I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through." Meanwhile, a number of Aguilera's celebrity fans have taken to Twitter.com to congratulate her on a job well done. Fellow Super Bowl performer will.i.am, who provided the half-time entertainment with his Black Eyed Peas bandmates, shared a photo of the star performing and tweeted: "Xtina sing'n wonderful." Singer Natasha Bedingfield wrote, "She did great! She sung her heart out. Didn't you see one of the players was so moved he was crying?! I'd like to see you try and do that!", while Kittycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger, who was in the crowd at the Arlington, Texas event, declared: "Xtina (Christina) just killed it 'sangin'! Sounded amazing here." Singer Jordin Sparks added: "The test of a true artist is continuing even when things go a little left & not letting people know it did during the performance. I love Xtina."

She sang it well (minus the f-ups) and with passion. I ain't mad at her. I'd still like to tap dat butt.

 

I didn't even notice the foul-ups until the reports came out......only time I hear the national anthem is during NFL championship games.

I have to give her props for admitting her mistake. At least she went out there in-front of over 100,000 people and gave it her best.

Michelle Williams belted out the US anthem, it sounded awesome (the clip isn't the best, but I was in the stadium and it sounded great),.... Then came Jeff beck and his guitar doing the British anthem. A lot of people criticize GSTQ for being a bit of a dirge, but I normally like it. This however, was just heckin embarrassing. Just listen to the comments at the end of the clip.

On topic, had she been concentrating on singing the freaking song rather than milking every syllable then maybe she wouldn't have screwed up
