The Miami Dolphins could make an interesting fit for Asomugha. As pointed out by Michael Lombardi on NFL.com, the Dolphins have a ton of cap room and a defense that is well suited for Asomugha’s style of play. Ditto that for the New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers. It’s conceivable Asomugha would want to play at either of the latter two teams because they are undeniably playoff contenders heading into next season. As he’s not getting any younger, the Pro Bowl corner could be feeling pressure to get his ring sooner rather than later. Source: Football News Now
he is going to cost alot! not the current packer way of doing things. and IMO this sterotype that asomugha is this "amazing best cover corner to every be on a football feild " is a joke. i dont buy it AT ALL. jsut becasue he's the best player on the raiders doesnt mean he should get the praise that he does. anyone got any stats for corners over the last few years? i dont buy qb's avoiding him anymore.
Since TT is in charge, the only guy he spend big money on was Woodson. All other players he signed other than by draft, has been backups or practice squard players. and yes, that we won the SB without him, might be another reason
^^This^^ No reason to overspend on a position that wasn't biting you in the butt & stopping you from getting to the next level. The only level the Packers could go to now is Mt. Olympus. TT will stand pat on this one...
why the heck would the pats spend that kind of cash? mcourtey is a stud, and they have butler who was a 2nd rounder only 2 years ago....is butler terrible? seems like the pats need dline and OLBs
Butler had a really bad season and got benched for Kyle "how the hell did it come to this" Arrington. He can still make it on the team, but as a slot corner. If Bodden can come back from the injury (which is likely) then the Pats will have a very good CB tandem,. If the team wants to address the CB position I could see them doing it in the draft, not by throwing a ton of $ at a FA.
How? We get ryan grant and jermichael finley (best tight end in the nfl) back next yr...and the addition of a cb the caliber of Nnamdi..I hardly call that jumping the gun K Train...youd have to be nuts if you think otherwise. Who would be better? MAYBE the patriots..
I don't see why the Pack would make Nnamdi their top priority. They have 3 good to great CBs already. I don't think Nnamdi would replace Woodson or Williams and there's no way they'd pay that type of money for a nickel CB or depth.
They wont..i know they wont. Ted Thompson builds through the draft..I was merely saying how good we WOULD be if we had him.
that a corner would make them the best team for 4 years? give me a break....hes a very good corner, probably the best in the league but hes still a corner. finley is good but the unquestioned best? probably not. packers had a tremendous surge, but its not the first time thats happened, they DID almost miss the playoffs. just proves what one game can do for a teams reputation...now they are borderline the best for the next decade, aaron rodgers is elite (ive said he was a master of the position for over a year now, but now everyones on board) and they didnt even win their own division LOL nnamdi would either make tramon williams ride the bench or play NB or would make woodson play safety at this point in career, its laughable that you think otherwise
Agree 100%. We also have Leigh Bodden coming off IR, who was looking good until he went down.Corner isn't a priority at all. DE/LB who are strong pass rushers, followed by a strong OL, then a back, and a deep threat wide out, if one is available will be the route they go. Having 6 picks available in 3 rounds will solve their issues. I don't see them going for free agents, since the emphasis seems to be to build a team with young talent to make an extended run vs a short term bandaid. However, we are talking Belichick, who never seems to do what you expect.
