Oakland Raiders Pro Bowl defensive lineman Richard Seymour has been locked up with a two-year, $30 million contract extension, according to Sports Illustrated. Per the report, Seymour's deal includes $22.5 million in guaranteed money. Seymour earned $12.975 million as a franchise player last season. Under a 20-percent mandated increase, it would have cost the Raiders $15.57 million to franchise them again. Now, the Raiders can assign the franchise tag to tight end Zach Miller. Good deal. He's still playing at a high level but realistically only likely has a year or two left in him anyway, the dudes entering his 11th season and has always played a ton of snaps. If we can get the 2 full years out of him and bridge the gap to a new young guy, that would be perfect.
Only concern would be if that $22M guaranteed slows his motor at all in those two years, idk anything about him personally to put a grade on that.
We still have a franchise tag to use... most likely Zach Miller or Robert Gallery will get locked up for a year since we cant use it on Nnam.
