With the NFL contemplating rules changes in the kickoff procedure, Dallas may be especially interested. The committee wants to move up the spot for kickoffs by five yards to the 35-yard line, it also wants to have the ball spotted at the 25 rather than the 20 after kickoffs. The intent, competition commitee chairman Rich McKay said, is to limit the number of injuries on kickoffs. The rule could also create a need for directional-kickoff skills and penalize a strong-legged kicker such as David Buehler of the Cowboys. Moving the kick forward will do nothing. Five yards won't make a difference to those guys covering the kicks.
It most likely won't make a difference with the kickers either. NFL kickers can pretty much place the ball where they want to more often than not...
