Rams To Seriously Consider Drafting Alabama RB Mark Ingram At No. 14?

  1. Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch believes the Rams could give serious consideration to drafting Alabama running back Mark Ingram with the 14th overall pick if Alabama wide receiver Julio Jones is off the board. There were signs last season that Steven Jackson is approaching his decline phase after 1,878 career carries, and the Rams have not been able to get serious about drafting a backfield mate or potential long-term successor. Defensive end is a bigger need for St. Louis, however. Chris Long played the second most snaps of any 4-3 end in the NFL last year, and James Hall is 34.

  2. Julio Jones will be long gone by the time the Rams are otc imo.

I don't see running back as their primary need to spend a Top 15 pick on.

Jackson on his decline? He was freaking injured...morons.

Aside from QB, RB is the last position that they should take in the first round. Would be very wasteful considering the amount of needs there are across the roster.

I don't see runningback as a need either but I could see Jackson being thankful to take a few snaps off and not have to turn it over to a complete crap butt no name runningback.

I dont think they need to go out of their way to go RB, but it's not going to hurt anything to start thinking about getting a long-term replacement for Jackson. I don't think Ingram is worth that pick or is a need for the Rams, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they went with a guy to spell/ eventually replace Jackson later on.
