Baylor OG Danny Watkins To Attend 2011 NFL Draft In New York City

Discussion in 'NFL Draft Discussion' started by BigBlueBruiser, Apr 4, 2011.

  1. Baylor OL Danny Watkins has accepted the league's invite to attend the NFL draft at Radio City Music Hall, according to multiple reports. In the Pro Football Weekly 2011 Draft Preview, PFW draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki writes that Watkins has "the physical skill set to start readily." Nawrocki projects Watkins, a 26-year old former firefighter who began playing football only a few years ago, to be a top-40 pick. PFW rates Watkins as the draft's fifth-best offensive lineman. According to Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post, Watkins is planning on bringing some of his fellow firefighters to New York for the draft.

  2. He has a shot to be the oldest first round draft pick in NFL history.

Best of luck to him. :icon_cool:

Really? Used to be they'd ask some top-10 picks. Now it's 2nd rounders? Especially with the 2nd round being a separate day. Hope they don't put him in the same room as the top guys, cause he might be waiting in that room for about 26 hours.

  4. I still prefer just the elite guys getting the call.

Last year they invited a bunch of players...like brandon ghee who was a 2nd or 3rd round guy. Id still like to go if i was a mid round prospect. I like watkins, hes just old but hes probably gonna be the 2nd or 3rd guard off the board in the second round
