Two Minnesota lawmakers have submitted a bill that will officially be introduced on Monday to fund a new domed stadium for the Minnesota Vikings, Mark Kaszuba of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. If passed, the bill would raise up to $300 million in state funds through sales taxes on memorabilia and luxury suites, a Vikings-themed lottery game, and income tax on players. The bill would also allow for local governments to raise taxes to cover their $250-$300 million share of the cost, with the Vikings on the hook for the remainder of the estimated $900 million stadium. The Vikings' lease with the Metrodome, whose roof collapsed last December, expires after the 2011 season. Potential sites for a new stadium are west of Target Field, rebuilding on the site of the current Metrodome, and the former Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant in Arden Hills.

Wonder what the local residence think about all of this? And how much of a tax increase?
