Mike Mayock will replace both Joe Theismann and Matt Millen on the NFL Network's broadcast of eight Thursday Night Football broadcasts during the regular season games, Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated reports. In addition to serving as a draft analyst for the NFL Network, Mayock is an analyst for NBC's broadcast of Notre Dame football. In recent seasons, Mayock has been an analyst during Minnesota Vikings' pre-season games. Deitsch adds that the NFL Network, which won't make a formal announcement for weeks, may make a change at the play-by-play, with CBS' Gus Johnson replacing Bob Papa. Sports Illustrated's Peter King first mentioned the possibility of Mayock entering the NFL Network booth in his MMQB column on April 10. Source: Mac's Football Blog
Anything is better than Theismann. One of the worst announcers in the history of the universe, and yet he somehow managed to announce so many primetime games for ESPN and the NFL Network.
Not only get rid of Thiesmann, but also Millen. Awesome! That might have been the hold up on the new CBA.
I'm going to miss Millen's draft coverage. Seriously, like a crystal ball for bustage. You just sat there all day and prayed that he didn't like your team's pick.
