What does Steve Smith's house being on the market have to do with Cam Newton? Smith's uncertain situation could affect how the Panthers approach the draft. Some have pointed to the Panthers' visit with Georgia WR A.J. Green as a smokescreen to cover their interest in Cam Newton. But the Panthers could be looking at Green -- not with the top pick, but a slightly lower one if they convince a team to trade up -- as a replacement for Smith. Assuming a labor deal is struck, Smith then could be used as trade bait for a veteran quarterback, or at a minimum, to acquire future draft picks. Source: Charlotte Observer
just take him with the top pick if you have too....i like cam newton but damn thats a ballsy pick to make. i guess buffalo or cinci might want to swap picks, but theres not gonna be that much market for the top pick this year
exactly....this is the year that a couple spots arent gonna matter....pretty much take who you like when you want
the first 5 wont have that much of a salary difference...you dont HAVE to take a QB, LT, or DE with the top pick anymore which is good for this year because the QBs, LTs, and DEs this year blow as far as top picks would go
I would take him number 1. Give Clausen or whoever another weapon. If you suck again this following year you have a shot at Luck next year.
honestly if i were picking number 1 it would be between peterson and julio, i do have julio considerably higher than green but i definitely wouldnt touch newton, gabbert, fairley, or bowers #1
The only thing that would kind of worry me about Julio is if he is fast enough to get consistent separation at the next level.
agreed. No one, even Bama fans, could have imagined he'd run so fast. Don't get me wrong he is a talented WR but he isn't better than Green.
still faster than 90% of the other players in shorts. i agree he doesnt play as fast as he times, many players dont....but im not questioning his speed anymore. he didnt play too fast at bama for a few reasons...always run blocking, conservative pass attack, he was a man among boys most of the time anyway. im a believer
i feel like his college production makes him look like and draw comparisons to randy moss and i dont see it. i think hes a talented college WR but i dont think hes a better prospect that dez bryant would have been if he played his last year and yet he draws comparisons to calvin johnson as a prospect and calvin is the best WR prospect ive ever seen period. i think he'll be an ok pro, but i dont think hes as sure of a thing as hes made out to be..theres a fine line between randy moss and dwayne jarrett
IMO they will take Dareus. I think they are increasingly sending out signals of Newton in hopes of baiting a trade, which won't happen.
