Rick Reilly of ESPN sat down with Colts quarterback Peyton Manning in a recent interview in Vail, Colorado and asked if there was going to be football in 2011. "I hope so. All I want to do is play football, and I'm running out of time," Manning said. "I can't afford to miss a year. Eli could make it up, but not me." Manning turned 35 in March and is the Colts' designated franchise player. He's scheduled to make $23.07 million under the tag and the team has yet to re-sign him to a long-term deal. Source: ESPN
Really??? try paying $40 a day in gas just to go to work MuthaScrewa, and you cant afford to miss the year... Im sick of the damm owners and really sick of the whining azz players... im DONE giving football any money... who can pay for a game when gas is $4.21 at am/pm and those oil companys are making 380 million PROFIT a day... all rich folks can eat a rod
I'm interpreting his comments as he doesn't have to many years left in the tank so he can't afford to miss a season. Not a money issue, more of a career winding down.
He's right, he doesn't have much time left to play, it would suck if he had to miss a year...for him and for the NFL...
I'd be pretty surprised if he was even close to broke, I'm sure he has enough money to retire now and live a very wealthy life. So it's obviously about the limited years he's got left. Especially if he wants to beat some of the records he's very capable of doing.
