With the 36th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick. A tall, athletic quarterback prospect who possesses a tremendous amount of upside, Kaepernick is patient in the pocket and displays terrific awareness as well as field presence. He buys time for receivers and displays a sense of timing and terrific pass placement. Kaepernick has been a productive college quarterback who's game has consistently progressed. Besides his physical skills, he offers terrific intangibles and does more then rely on his strong arm or nimble feet to make plays. He has starting potential at the next level but will need more time to develop his game.

Bring a QB for a year or two. Let Harbaugh work on him.

I am really happy with this pick. Dude has crazy athleticism like Newton but with a stronger arm. Needs to work on his footwork not sure if Harbaugh will want to tweak his delivery.

I don't care what anyone thinks, Ryan Mallet would have been a better pick!!!

i dont play franchise. but im sure his upside potential is better than cam newton. im expecting 80+ speed and 91+ arm strength and mid 70 acc on all three. I mean they made Nate Davis very useable and colin will by far be better nate davis on madden

    Congrats Raiders fans!

Seriously, I was sure it was going to be Stanzi in the 4th for us. Would much rather that.

Edit: after watching a few more tapes I don't hate it quite so bad, but I still remain skeptical. However seems like it could hinge on coaching and in theory that should be there.

Stanzi IMO is like Shaun Hill if not worse.

I think Stanzi might be as good as he's going to get. I'll pass on that at this point.

  16. Kaepernick is a great pick.

Screw Mallett he isn't a Harbaugh type QB.
