With the 193rd overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Ohio St. LB Brian Rolle. A small yet fearless linebacker who makes plays sideline to sideline, Rolle is fast moving in all directions of the field, fluid getting out to the flanks, and gets depth on pass drops. Quick to read and diagnose the action. Rolle has been a terrific linebacker who was out of place in the middle of Ohio State's defense. Size limits him at the next level, but he could be an effective backup in a one-gap system or potentially get consideration at strong safety. Plays with a special teams mentality, which enhances his possibilities in the NFL. Source: Sports Illustrated
too small to be a linebacker, not athletic enough to play safety, pure ST player and backup only. We drafted like 10 of those guys.
I like the pick at this spot. Rolle may be small but is athletic as all get out and should be great on special teams.
With the players that were available, the pick was terrible. He's a ST player and backup LB at best. We needed to draft starters or players that will be starters, this guy will never be a starter.
I would have rather had Homan at the time they took Rolle, but if they took other LB's in the 4th or 5th then they wouldn't have had to waste a pick on this guy.
Mark Herzlich, James Thomas, Chris White, Gabe Miller, Markell Carter, Nick Bellore, Scott Lutrus. We could have had Sturdivant in the 5th.
