The New Orleans Saints insist they aren't planning to run Reggie Bush out of town now that they have a new Heisman Trophy-winning tailback in Mark Ingram according to Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Bush is concerned that he will become even more minimized in a Saints backfield that is suddenly overstocked with the addition of rookie Mark Ingram but ultimately, the decision about where Bush plays in 2011 will be up to Bush. Although he is under contract with the Saints for one more year at $11.8 million, the Saints probably won't bring Bush back at that price tag. And it is also extremely unlikely any other team would trade for him at that price. So he'll either need to agree to a new contract with the Saints, or they will allow him to leave and become a free agent. Source: The Times Picayune
even without drafting Ingram they would ask him to restructure. For his contributions his entire contract 11.8 is a bit steep. Does he make the offense better? Yes of course. Without a doubt. But the Saints have proven they can win games without him. As purely a runner he can't get the whole job done. Ingram and Ivory gets the hard yards that Bush just can't get on a consistant basis. If he leaves the Saints it will be because his feelings were hurt. We had Deuce when we drafted Bush so the same thing is happing to him. Bush can play a big role in this team but it is just that. A role. He will never be a featured back. Can't do it.
Bush has given a lot to the city and the team, Bush should always be a Saint and I personally love Reggie.
I like Bush too. But the Saints will do what is best for the team and Bush has a place there but not as the main back but as a split out or out of the backfield. The Saints are a better team with him, for sure, just can't be at that price. Some one can be trade bait. But we sure could have used all 4 backs last year. Can't have too many good backs.
