Pro Football Talk is hearing "initial rumblings" that the NFL would considering shutting down all operations if the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals upholds Judge Susan Nelson's ruling to lift the lockout. Under this scenario, the owners wouldn't be violating court orders because they would essentially be shutting down their business. The owners have backed themselves into a corner the past couple of months. This would be their last-ditch effort to force the players to agree to a new collective bargaining agreement rather than accepting supervision from the courts. As PFT points out, "there's a long way to go before things would ever get to that point." Source: Pro Football Talk: Twitter.com
"the owners wouldn't be violating court orders because they would essentially be shutting down their business." And the second they reopened 'their businesses' they'd be hit with contempt as the closures would be rule a sham to avoid the initial order. But it sure would make for some cheap stock shares in Green Bay. And the article says the owners have backed themselves into a corner? Bullcrap. All the rulings to date by apparent pro-union judges are squeezing the owners' balls.
This is such bullcrap, how stubborn are you that you are willing to go THAT far to ruin your business just to get a little bit more?
Complete horse crap. No freaking way do they make this move. Billions if not trillons would be lost between the owners, players, and networks. Ain't gonna happen.
QFT. And even though the owners, players, and networks would stand to lose billions, you think for one minute the Feds would allow one of their large tax-generating machines to cease operations? Time for both sides to throw in the towel, give all these monies we're talking about to the retired player, heck the current greedy crapheads and play some ball.
nothing would surprise me at this point. they'd probably be willing to go to court even if there was only $100,000 left to divide between both parties. it's a damn shame.
