Armed With Playbook, Unsigned QB Alex Smith Runs 49ers Practice

    Eyebrows were raised when 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh gave unsigned quarterback Alex Smith a copy of the team's playbook several weeks ago. On Tuesday, Smith not only indicated he would like to return to the 49ers but spent about 90 minutes throwing passes to three wide receivers and running routes straight out of the playbook according to Matthew Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.

    I guess he realized that if he leaves San Fran., we will most likely never get a chance to start anywhere else in the NFL.

    I think he might get a 2 year deal or something similar. I really think Harbaugh wants to really groom Kap.
