The NFL has not identified a "drop-dead date" by which it would consider scrapping the entire 2011 regular season if the lockout begins to cut into games this fall. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Thursday that the league is focused only on getting back onto the field, not on setting a target by which games must begin. "First, our objective is to have a full season, we scheduled a full season, we are planning for a full season and that's our intent," Goodell told Pittsburgh Steelers season-ticket holders during a conference call (via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette). "If we're not capable of doing that we will play as many games as possible and want to finish with the Super Bowl." The league has built in a cushion of about three weeks into the schedule -- which begins on the weekend of Sept. 8-12. The NFL could conceivably start the season three weeks late and still play a full 16 games and playoffs. But if the lockout lingers into October or November, would the league consider abandoning the season? "Obviously we want a credible season," Goodell said, "... There is no drop-dead date." Screw you Roger Goodell! you are just as much to blame as every other person in this heckin ordeal. I normally look at the positive side of things, but this whole "lockout" is crap. A bunch of greedy heckwads fighting over BILLIONS of dollars. In my mind there is plenty to go around. These buttholes need to see that it is us the fans that are being hurt the most.. DAMNIT this greed makes me mad.. /rant sorry about that. I don't like it when I get that angry... :(
If there's ever to be a positive out of a lost season, it would be that it'd kill Goodell's chance of being enshrined in the Hall of Fame...
I liked Goodell before all this started. Now he's probably my least favorite sports figure. I mean really. What can you do with 5 billion dollars that you can't do with 4 billion?
