Washington Nationals manager Jim Riggleman has resigned. The Nationals jumped over .500 with a victory over the Mariners on Thursday afternoon and have won 11 of their last 12 games in an incredible and promising stretch of quality baseball. But Riggleman has decided to call it quits due to a rift with management over his unexercised option for 2012. Source: William Ladson: Twitter.com
Nationals will only get better from this, glad that trash is gone. I was crossing my fingers and praying they'd get rid of him by the All Star break, surprisingly he did something I never expected, something for the better of the team by resigning. Lot of Nationals fans thinking this is going to hurt the team. Won't hurt them whatsoever, dude never helped, in fact held them back with his crapty lineups (order wise). Let alone constantly ruining the bull pen and don't get me started on what he did to Strasburg. Naturally we have a tough stretch ahead of us so people will be saying it's our fault for not listening to him, but if he couldn't wait for the AS break when Rizzo wanted to discuss it, then the hell with him. Shame on him for trying to get an extension off of players performances. For being a Senators fan and loving the area he grew up in, he sure gave them a big middle finger tonight.
Agreed him pulling this crap before the all-star break almost seems like a temper tantrum and he should be embarrassed because of it today. But Rigs didn't do a damn thing to Strasburg. Whoever taught him to pitch in that arm slot, throwing as hard as he does, gets credit for that. That kid will never live up to his potential.
Definitely a rod move by Riggleman. I'm wondering if it was one of those mutual things...the timing is just odd.
I heard about this. Im pretty shocked to see it happen. Wonder if there will be others to step down like this
I agree and disagree, either way, your don't send your rookie out his first game, when he's suppose to go 70-80 pitches and make him go 90+
