From what Pro Football Weekly hears, nothing has changed in Mike Shanahan's mind about his QB situation: He still plans to go with John Beck as his starter. That could change whenever free agency starts, but it appears to be the direction the Redskins firmly are headed. Back in May Shanahan was asked about Beck’s strengths, and he said: “No. 1 you’ve got to love the game, you’ve got to have passion, you’ve got to have a mindset and what I’m looking for is a guy that’s first to work, last to leave. You’ve got to be able to run this offense at a very high level. He can do some things with his legs that a lot of quarterbacks can’t do. He’s in that 4.675 [40-yard dash] range. Those are some of the things.†Source: Pro Football Weekly
I love Donovan McNabb...enough to know he'd be embarrased as the starting QB of this team. So I'll start John Beck.
I would love to see Mcnabb start he is a great quarterback. But if John Beck is going to give you guys a better chance to win I would go with Beck
this how shanny came to his decision; shanny - hey john how's it going ? beck - not bad how are things for you ? shanny - great - still getting paid thanks to 96 & 97 beck - yeah you're the best shanny - so what do you think of my son kyle ? beck - dude is a genius shanny - good answer john, you're now the starter.
I think they are looking for someone who is fundamentally sound, Beck is fundamentally sound, problem is he's not talented lol
