We've known all along that rookies will be sacrificed in this CBA -- revamping the rookie compensation system has always been something both sides felt needed to happen -- but that doesn't mean the first batch of rookies are going to be happy about taking between 40 and 50 percent less than players chosen in the same slot a year ago. San Francisco 49ers first-round linebacker Aldon Smith, the seventh overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, tells Bill Coats of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that while he understands the owners' position, he opposes the measure. "I don't think it's the right thing to do, period," Smith said of the rookie wage scale. "But if they're going to change it, at least don't change it in my year. That's selfish on my part, but that's how I see it." Source: Mac's Football Blog
Yeah. It is selfish and you sound freaking stupid because you can't make a valid point to support your opinion, so you poke holes in your own "argument." Dumb crap.
this same guy was saying in another interview as long as he was getting paid more then 800 dollars a week like he was in college he would be ok with it
When i was in high school they added an exit exam starting our clbutt.....haha we said the same thing aldon said NOT OUR YEAR!!
He admitted he was selfish so I don't see what the problem is. Of course he isn't going to want it in his year.
The problem is that he is still going to make millions, now he actually has to pproduce to make more.
That would be the same logic as saying, "I know it's racist, but I just don't like black people..." He openly contradicted himself, which makes him sound like a complete fool.
No, a contradiction would have been if the person in your statement said "I'm not racist, but I hate black people." All he is doing is acknowledging the flaw in his reasoning but saying he cant help feeling that way. Thats true for a lot of things in life. People do crap and feel crap all the time they know is fallacious or wrong, but they do/feel it anyway. It's not foolish.
who gives a crap, i would be PBUTTIONATLY opposed to it if i was a rookie this year. although he went about 10-15 slots too high imo, so he should be happy he'll be making more money than he should
