NFLPA Recertification Could Be Done In A Matter Of Hours?

Discussion in 'NFL General Discussion' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jul 21, 2011.

  1. Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports that the NFL Players Association could recertify as a union in a matter of hours, not days. According to NFL Network legal analyst Gabe Feldman, reforming of the union could take place electronically, and happen quickly. According to multiple sources, NFL owners have been told by the league to be prepared to vote on the new collective bargaining agreement between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET. In an interview with the NFL Network on Thursday afternoon, Seattle Seahawks player rep Chester Pitts confirmed reports that the NFL Players Association will hold a conference call Thursday night but said the players on the call would only vote if unresolved issues are "hammered out." He did say, however, that a deal is "closer to being done than not being done."

The unions have to have the player cards (about 1000) of them signed and returned. That can't happen in hours. I guess if you email a scan if the card and then sign and email a copy back...not sure if that is legal as far as unions go...if it is, it could be minutes...lol. It won't be weeks like the players have said...I think that's more positioning again.

Once the deal is in place, the union doesn't have to be in place to open business. Waivers could be signed to get guys on the field. It happens almost every week in the NFL.
