Peter King of Sports Illustrated hears that free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugah's preference is to play with the Jets. King still lists the Jets as a "longshot," presumably for financial reasons. The Cowboys, Eagles, and Texans top King's lists despite multiple reports out of Dallas and Philadelphia that those teams aren't exactly gung-ho. King also suspects the "cash-strapped" Ravens are more likely to re-sign cornerback Josh Wilson for less money, and the Buccaneers are not a realistic option. "Nnamdi won't go to Tampa Bay in a million years," King said. Source: Peter King: Twitter.com
Could be the scheme. Seems to me what he wants most is to win ASAP and be surrounded by defensive studs.. Jets would piss me off good, that's not even fair. My money's on Dallas.
Nnamdi's is a man-to-man "shutdown" corner....... The Buccaneers still runs the Tampa 2. Playing zone is not his strong suit. With a team like Dallas with DeMarcus Ware and their stellar pass rush.....he will have a big opportunity to make an impact in the secondary.
With the new CBA, Tampa's going to have to shell out $$ to someone. Might as well be Nmambi. Also pretty sure the Jets are right up against the cap. Say goodbye to Holmes & Braylon if they do this.
tampa is like 50 mil under the cap, and with the new CBA they will have to spend some. i dont care what kind of scheme they typically run, if clayborn, bowers, price, and mccoy go bat crap crazy they can put nnamdi on whoever they want, if they signed a 15 mil a year corner they would clearly play to his strengths
