Raiders May Still Look To Re-Sign CB Nnamdi Asomugha

The Oakland Raiders likely would be interested in re-signing free-agent CB Nnamdi Asomugha if his asking price fits into their salary cap. The Raiders learned that they have about $6.5 million more in cap room under provisions in the new CBA that allow $3.5 million for performance-based pay and $3 million to be borrowed from future years. Asomugha has said in the past how much he enjoys playing for the Raiders. We’re about to find out just how much. Raiders managing general partner Al Davis covets cornerbacks and is hesitant to part ways with first-round picks.

That would be awesome if he stayed in Oakland...lol.

  3. I don't think he want's to stay in Oakland..I could see him landing with the Jets with a Rex Ryan who builds his D around elite DB's and pressure up the middle...

Jets can't afford him if they want to keep their offensive weapons.

  5. True....I say let go of Edwards see what you can get for Holmes and maybe have some room for Asomugha (if that even works):icon_rolleyes:

Aso will end up a Philadelphia Eagle after all is said and done. They need a shut down DB on the other side of Asante and with the emerging of Nate Allen as a stud at Safety that secondary looks pretty money. It'll help that line get some sick pushes up front at well. They have the money and I think having Asante call him up and say yo, come to Philly would be a big help.

Either way, there's no way in hell he'd willingly go back to that train wreck of a franchise.

I don't think we can afford him, but I would LOVE to have him here. Rob Ryan will be foaming at the mouth if we could land him.

I dont see how it could possibly happen with the new cap.

They have a lot of salary on that team that they could dump...a lot.

God I hope he gets resigned, which I highly doubt he will unless Al throws the big bucks at him, which I really don't think we have the cap space to support.

Unless you know something I don't dude.. I don't think we do. Our website is talking about dumping and restructuring a crapload of contracts just to resign who we have... But I don't know all the details of the new CBA so things could be different..

They could free up a lot of money with the release of Colombo, Barber, Williams and Newman alone. Not to mention Brooking, Davis and possibly James. Any combination of those players could free up some nice coin and I think they are all questionable as to being on the Cowboys roster next season...

Forget it. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Eagles have signed him to a five-year deal.
