Chiefs Come To Terms With Free Agent WR Steve Breaston On Five-Year Deal

Discussion in 'Kansas City Chiefs' started by BigBlueBruiser, Jul 27, 2011.

  1. Free agent wide receiver Steve Breaston has reached an agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs on a five-year deal, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Breaston caught 187 passes for 2,528 yards and seven touchdowns in four seasons with the Cardinals. In Arizona's Super Bowl season of 2008, he had career highs of 77 catches for 1,006 yards. Bothered by a knee injury much of last season, Breaston caught 47 passes for 718 yards. Breaston's departure leaves the Cardinals without a consistent receiving threat alongside star Larry Fitzgerald.

Was waiting for this. Now the Chiefs have a legit array of WRs to throw to.

    Gotta get that NT now.

Terrible OC with a question at QB. This is a tough year to predict for the Chiefs.

Well, I'm pretty sure Haley will call the plays anyway. Cassel sucks, but surely he'll be slightly better now.

That's what I meant about a terrible OC.

I think the Chiefs have a decent offense...they definitely have some weapons and if Cassell can be half decent, the Chiefs can go places...lol.

  10. You guys are all idiots hahaha What does Cassel have to do to feed you guys or to show you he is the guy in KC's future. He is obviously the heart and soul of the team which we found out during the regular season wen he went down with the appendectomy and the team fell flat on their butt without him but yet had enough heart a week later to be out their putting his body on the line. Need less to say a pro bowl season under a mediocre recieving core. Cmon now the word is PRO BOWL for a reason and Cassel did nothing but exceed expectations and prove the world wrong last year after a bumpy start.

First thing, do not insult anyone outside of the fight club, if you can't follow this rule you will be carded. Second, Cassel was terrible before Wise, and I believe he will go back to that under Haley. The proof was in the playoffs. While your homer self says he had a great year, a normal person who doesn't see the player through a bias would say that Cassel was incredibly streaky last season while he had some excellent games he also had very poor games. Third, the pro bowl is an absolute joke. And to further prove that your probowl point is and will be complete and utter nonsense, Cassel only made the pro bowl BECAUSE Brady backed out.:Loco:

As for Breaston, he is really good when he is healthy. However, he doesn't have the strongest vote of confidence there plus Bowe is no Fitzgerald to take away the pressure.

    A +20 in TD/INT ratio...

Lol. That's money. Streaky or not, throwing 27 TDs to 7 INTs is a phenomenal year and worthy of a Pro Bowl spot.

No question he tanked in the playoffs, but he still had a damn good season.

You don't think Wise had him playing at a high level? All I remember is when Haley was in charge Bowe got flustered.

When Haley was OC...he also had a patch work O-line...and Cassel with stood 40+ sack season that year...im so sick of you knocking Haley and Cassel...when is Orton showing up in MIA?

Good signing here. The real question mark is Baldwin. If he meets 1st round pick expectations, the KC offense has the potential for being extremely balanced. Hopefully the ground game will continue to flourish and just because of the new additions at WR it doesn't become air-Haley.

cassel had a decent year last year im still not sure he is our future yet we will see this year with our scedule if he has a good season then we gotta give him credit he will face some good defenses this year.

Chiefs surprised many last year. And, then tanked in the playoffs. Only throwing 7 INTs in a season is pretty damn good, no matter who you are. 27 TDs to 7 Ints, that's nice. He deserved the PB, but one year also doesn't make or break you. He has to back the numbers up this year, and that's tough to do. KC usually gets a good year, then falls back into the tank again. They have to be consistent as a team, and I think they're building in the right direction, but calling Cassel "the future" or "horrible" is an opinion, he just needs to have the stats to prove it one way or another.
