Kelli Johnson of Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia reports that the Redskins' trade of Donovan McNabb to the Vikings in exchange for a 2012 sixth-round pick and conditional sixth-rounder in 2013 is complete. The 14-hour holdup was contract parameters; McNabb needed to rework his deal and get rid of the $10 million option bonus the Redskins owed him per last November's phony extension. McNabb figures to open camp as the favorite to start for the Vikings, but the team won't wait around if the 34-year-old struggles early. Minnesota's scouting department determined before the draft that Christian Ponder was NFL-ready. It's probably a safe bet that both will start games this year, be it due to ineffectiveness or injury behind an aging offensive line that struggles in pass protection. I believe this is a good fit for McNabb. With Peterson running the rock, Mcnabb should do well. Or maybe Andy Reid is a QB genius... And knew when to fold on a bad hand.. LOL
now the Vikings have both a great running back with speed and now a quarterback with speed which is always a plus. I think this trade will work out for this team
I think McNabb was offended by the Vikings wanting Tyler Thigpen, & they might want him to wear a wristband= no deal.
For a QB he has decent speed. One thing McNabb has is scrambling abilities. That might be all he has left though.. lol
Not entirely true. While getting up there in age the one thing McNabb has always been good at is getting out of trouble. He's got some decent blocking up there in Minny and is pretty good at evading the pass rush. While not Mike Vick Donovan McNabb carried that Eagles team while having the receiving threats such as Charles Johnson, Todd Pinkston and James Thrash. He doesn't need to run around like a maniac but he can still move around if needed.
Good to see Wittle Donnie put his cry baby act to the side and let the deal happen. He'll be the comeback player of the year in Minnie...
Reality is that this can not be a worse thing. The Skins, while I don't agree that they were as limited talent-wise as everyone else now says, weren't anything special. AD and a couple weapons on the outside should help, but I don't see him making any huge improvement. I wouldn't be surprised if Webb is starting week one.
Others evidently there before McNabb even "approved" the deal...lol. Looking forward to the drama filled chapter of McNabb Meets Minnesota!
