Carlos Beltran might provide just the power bat San Francisco needs to make another deep playoff run. That's general manager Brian Sabean's hope, anyway. The defending World Series champion Giants finalized a trade Thursday to acquire the slugging outfielder and cash from the New York Mets, upgrading their inconsistent offense. Beltran first had to approve the deal to the NL West leaders."When you're defending world champions, you do have to try to defend that title any way you can," Sabean said. "We're in first place. Hopefully we show we mean business. ... Simply put, we're thrilled with bringing Carlos on board. We really felt the organization needed a shot in the arm and more so our lineup. Source: ESPN
great move for the short term for the giants but they gave up alot (potentially) - if they can re-sign beltran it becomes an even better move. the phils better get off their asses and get a freaking good rightie bat in this line-up.
Giants are owning the Phillies...let's be honest. With or without Beltran. Phillies need a little fine tuning before the playoffs. If the Giants, Phillies, Braves make it, there's gonna be some serious pitching going on.
Beltran 0 for 4 in first outing as Giant. lol. but yeah. Braves and Phillies are both in the market for a bat. Those three teams with the pitching? It could be nasty in the playoffs.
