The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms with free agent center Chris Spencer, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports. Spencer will sign a two-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed. Unable to re-sign long-term center Olin Kruetz, the Bears have been on the lookout for a veteran center and it makes sense that they turned their attention to Spencer, who was a first-round draft choice (26th overall) out of Mississippi by the Seattle Seahawks in 2005. Bears Director of Player Personnel Tim Ruskell was Seattle's general manager in 2005, and Spencer was the first player Ruskell selected in an entry draft. Source: Mac's Football Blog
I'm glad they made this move especially after watching garza screw the pooch on several snaps on saturday...
Works for me. In nothing else the Bears get younger at the center position but still get a guy with some solid experience.
So they did sign Spencer huh? I don't know anything about this guy but I know he's no Olin Kreutz...that's for sure. I hope he's worth something if they're giving up on signing Olin Kreutz. Only time will tell I guess.
