Nnamdi Asomugha didn't think he was headed to Philadelphia until the last minute, either. "The Eagles never seemed to be in it," the star cornerback said Sunday of his experience as a free agent. "Everything came really quickly, and when the Eagles expressed interest and came so aggressive and said, 'We have a chance; we want this. Let's do it,' it didn't have to go much further. When a team wants you, you can feel it. And when you feel that match, I don't think you can shy away from that." A three-time Pro Bowl pick during his eight years with the Raiders, Asomugha signed a deal worth $60 million over five years. He said he spurned more money elsewhere because he believed the Eagles gave him the best chance to win a Super Bowl. Asomugha has never played in a postseason game and has never been on a winning team. The Eagles have reached the playoffs six times since Asomugha entered the NFL in 2003 and have had just one losing record since 2000. "From top to bottom, the organization is first class with the head coach, the president, the GM, the owner, all the way down to the players," Asomugha said. "It has a championship feel to it."

The cowboys freed up a ton of cap space to give him a TON of money and from what I've heard the Jets were going to offer him about 16-18 mil per season. I'd much rather be on an Eagles defense than play in New York(even though Rex is a good defensive coach). It's easier to make it to the Super Bowl in the NFC than the AFC and after being stuck in the black hole of craptitude I can't imagine he'd want to be in a situation where he doesn't have a chance to win the SB now.

And honestly do you think that 12 mil is all he could make per season? I'm sure he could have made MAD money going to a club with a lot of cap room who'd of spent the farm on him.

Yeah. I was thinking 5 years for 60 million was a damn steal.

You'd better enjoy him while you can. I bet you only get 2 years out of him before his skills start to decline. He's already 30.

Deion Sanders was a former shell of himself when he hit 32. The Cowboys cut him, he went to the Skins the next season. At 33 after only one month with them, he got taken to school by the Lions, with Charlie Batch throwing to Germaine Crowell and Johnnie Morton. The Lions!

    Just saying.

Nnamdi is not a long term solution. He isn't a guy who we expect to play through all 5 years of his contract. The FO's clear objective is to win a Super Bowl within the next three years. No way Aso would even see year 4 or 5 compensation of that deal anyways.

he probably saw that the Eagles have the best chance to get to the super bowl. So no wonder he took a pay cut. Doesn't everyone wanna make it to the big game? The Eagles are stacked for this year and years to come
