Aaron Wilson of the Carrol County Times reports the Chiefs have signed free agent fullback Le'Ron McClain to a one-year deal. The Chiefs have been in talks with McClain for nearly a week. McClain has made no secret about his desire for more carries in 2011, but he's not terribly likely to get them in Kansas City unless Thomas Jones appears to have lost another step in training camp. One of the best lead blockers in football, he should be a huge aid for Jamaal Charles as he attempts to follow up his monster 2010. Source: Aaron Wilson: Twitter.com
Could wind up being a horrible signing if he keeps clamoring about getting carries...between Jones and Charles, there's not going to be a lot to go around. If he acts like a fullback and does his job, it will be a great signing...lol.
This, not to mention Mccluster back to rb full time. It's kinda sad mcclain went on this campaign to get more carries, confused his vlalue and ended up settling for a 1 year deal on a team where he isnt gonna get the ball any more then he did the last 2 years.
McClain is a monster. Jones is older, and probably losing his step. LeRon can make an impact blocking and running.
They always say that about Jones and it's probably more true now than in the past but people tend to forget he was under used for a very long time...the tread on his tires isn't as old as people think. But if they are feeling the same and let him go to give McClain carries, it could work out really well.
IMO, stay-tuned for more. A trade seems probable. What team could use the services of Thomas Jones more than others?
