Lions Rookie DT Nick Fairley Underwent Foot Surgery In Charlotte

Discussion in 'Detroit Lions' started by BigBlueBruiser, Aug 3, 2011.

  1. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports Lions rookie defensive tackle Nick Fairley underwent foot surgery today in Charlotte and the team said he will miss a significant portion of preseason. At least. The news Fairley received from Dr. Robert Anderson on Wednesday morning was obviously far from ideal. Fairley's shoulder was the issue heading into the draft, but now there's no telling how much time he might miss with his stress fracture. Corey Williams is all but assured of starting opposite Ndamukong Suh at defensive tackle in Week 1.

I hear he is only going to be out 4 weeks, apparently they did surgery but didn't find any issues. 4 Weeks isn't the end of the world.

That's not until December. So, He has until then to prove doubters wrong.

True, but I also wasn't one of the most excited people in the world to select him either. I see bust written all over him, but hopefully he proves me wrong. I'm not expecting a SUH like performance from him because they are two totally different players in how they train and prepare IMO. He's going to be a rotational player as is, but SUH/WILLAMS/HILL did a pretty good job last year so it can only get better.
