In 2005, the 49ers chose quarterback Alex Smith over receiver Braylon Edwards for the No. 1 pick in the draft. The 49ers and Edwards agreed to terms on a one-year, $3.5 million contract, ESPN reported Thursday. Edwards traveled to Santa Clara to meet with coaches and team officials Wednesday. Edwards visited the 49ers prior to the 2005 draft, as the club publicly reduced its candidates for the top overall pick to Smith, Edwards, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and defensive back Antrel Rolle. In 16 games with the New York Jets last season, Edwards caught 53 passes for 904 yards and seven touchdowns. Source: Comcast SportsNet Bay Area
In order for Edwards to get the $3.5 million, he's gotta catch 90 balls and goes to the Pro-Bowl...lol.
