Free Agent QB Troy Smith Disappoints In Workout With Dolphins

  1. How the mighty have fallen. Free agent quarterback Troy Smith, has gone from starting six games for the 49ers last season to losing a tryout to quarterback Kevin O’Connell for the right to backup Dolphins QB Chad Henne. That might be the worst quarterback situation in the league, and Smith couldn’t hook on there.

Kevin O'Connell knows both New England and NY Jets systems, that's why he's there for now.

I'd put them amongst Buffalo, Carolina, Cincinnati, Oakland, Seattle, San Fran and Washington. All equally unsettling.

Well, Troy Smith was never the "mighty" so he didn't fall far. As far as the QB situation goes, I think Henne will turn out alright once he has another year under his belt. I mean he hasn't even had a full season of starting under his belt yet. I think he would be far more developed on a different team. These young QB's for the most part need a year a two watching a vet then getting their chance. Then they need a year or so taking their lumps as a starter before I would give up on them. I think taking them out putting them in only hurts their development. A perfect example of a team doing it the right way are the Packers.
