Top RB Money Not Enough For Titans Chris Johnson?

The Tennessee Titans' contract stalemate with holdout running back Chris Johnson shows no signs of ending anytime soon. While the Titans publicly stated they are willing to make Johnson the highest-paid running back in the NFL, those close to Johnson believe he should be paid as one of the top playmakers in the league -- not just for running backs, sources familiar with the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. To date, the Titans have not made any offers to Johnson. Until the Titans can find a way to appease Johnson, the Pro Bowl running back is not expected to report back to the team, which sets up the possibility for a prolonged holdout.

If they offer to make him the highest paid RB in the league he better take the money and run.. (pun intended)

He is just being greedy if he wants more than what someone like AP would get..

The problem is that he is the type of selfish butthole that once he gets paid will falter in to absolute nothing.

I hear the arguments against him sitting out but ill say this: This is a business. His market value is through the roof. Its not him being a selfish butthole, he feels hes making the team a lot of money and lets face it in terms of jersey sales and highlight reels for nfl films he is making certain people some serious cash. Just like when you go find a job for yourself, if your market value is high you can demand a higher salary and if one company wont pay you someone else will.....not to say i 100% agree with Johnson I honestly dont really know the situation, have they actually made him an offer or is it all talk. I just wanted to maybe give a different perspective since most are against jonhson.

While I agree he deserves more money, he proved to be selfish with only wanting personal accolades. And wanting to be the highest paid player period just further shows. The issue is he is the type of player that needs to have a contract with incentives, otherwise I see him pulling a Moss and only wanting to play when he feels like it.

Also, if you demanded a higher salary, would you stop working completely? Or would you show up and say "hey I am hear to show I want to be, now show me you want me".

Chris Johnson is being a DIVA. Those statements his team released a week ago about not receiving any offers from the Titans made their camp look like a bunch of stubborn rods. He should just report already, get some reps, and before you know it he'll be made the highest paid RB ever.

I understand him sitting out. He's got a very small window to get paid. Running backs have short careers, as everyone knows. And he's never going to have another season like 2 years ago so he has to get paid while people still remember it.

I don't blame Johnson the least lil bit...The Titans keep saying they want to pay him, but he nor his agent have seen any movement or contract. Bud Adams is a freaking tight wad...if they had paid him already the whole thing would be a non issue.

The Titans are saying EXACTLY what the Eagles said. They'll talk to him but they want to TALK TO HIM! Not his agent, not his cell phone, CHRIS JOHNSON! If I was the Titans I'd just cut my loses and not pay him nor trade him. HE signed a contract and has to honor that contract. Just let him sit out and not play at all. They don't have to release or trade him. No judge will favor with him if he tries to sue the NFL/Titans. Just let him sit out and keep losing that year for free agency and let him go try and find a job somewhere else. He can't be a motivational speaker because a)he's a greedy snitch and b) he doesn't speak English. Screw Chris Johnson. Move on. Get another RB in camp NOW and move ahead. Either he keeps sitting out or he comes back because he WANTS to get paid.

CJ is a crybaby. I said it when all this started. GTFO if you don't want to play. Hell, I wish I could get paid QB money, too. Doesn't mean I can't show up to work.
