Former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel is visiting the Cleveland Browns' training camp. Tressel was forced to resign in May after breaking NCAA rules in a memorabilia-for-tattoos scandal involving several Buckeyes players. He is on the sideline watching as the Browns go through another morning workout. With his hands folded behind his back, a pose familiar to Ohio State's loyal fans, Tressel visited with Browns president Mike Holmgren on Monday as he kept a close eye on Cleveland's first-team offense and defense doing drills. There have long been rumors about him jumping to the NFL. Source: Associated Press
I totally see him becoming an assistant at some point. I don't think he's too proud for that. That's how he started in college and even though I think he's a pr**k he understands the value of working his way up. Now that he's away from OSU I can like him. But he's still a pr**k.
He coached quarterbacks, running backs and receivers before being a head coach at Youngstown and Ohio State. I think Tressel just wants his foot in the door in some capacity.......
Because his collegiate coaching career could very well be over. I think he has no choice here, if he wants to be a part of the game. Not like it could hurt the Browns.
i know he was an Asst. in the past but its hard for most guys to go back to being one after being a HC.
While true most guys aren't forced to resign, fired or suspended by the NCAA for being a dbag. Tressel is going to have to become a Coordinator at the very LEAST before he becomes an NFL coach but he's a smart offensive guy. I can see him as a Mike Martz type but not sure how he'd fare as a head coach in the NFL. But who knows right?
