Seahawks LB Aaron Curry Gives Up $5M Guaranteed Money In Restructured Deal

Discussion in 'Seattle Seahawks' started by BigBlueBruiser, Aug 22, 2011.

  1. Seahawks linebacker Aaron Curry has agreed to a restructured contract that now expires following the 2012 season. Curry surrendered $5 million worth of guaranteed money in exchange for dropping the final two seasons on what was originally a six-year, $60 million rookie deal. Curry has been a below-average starter with the Seahawks. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the move suggests that 2011 will be a make-or-break season for Curry. The team may be grooming rookie K.J. Wright to challenge him next year.

  2. Curry really fooled me.....I thought he was going to be an impact linebacker in the NFL.

He had the size and speed but it never translated.

Damn this is the first time i hear about him since he was drafted guess he never really did anything. Such a shame cause i really liked him coming out of college.... I remember he was projected to be the 1st overall pick except no team has ever taken a LB with the #1.

Is it too early to call it a bust? or is he just in a crappy team?

  5. The Lions strongly considered him over Stafford........Schwartz really liked him. But they made the right pick.

Andray Bruce was the last linebacker taken No. 1 overall.

Maybe a different scheme may suit him better.......

A linebacker ought to be able to make plays regardless of the scheme.

    This guy just sucks.

Unreal, somehow the Seahawks find a way to 'miss' even on 'can't miss' players.

I do remember the lions thinking about him and even Mel Keiper suggesting for A.Curry to go 1st overall and was being compared to Keith Bullock.

hes not a bad player...not as elite as once thought but its so difficult for LBs in that mold to live up to their draft slot....curry and AJ hawk are fine players, but not top 3-5 players. its just difficult drafting a 43 LB in the top 5 and expecting him to live up to the hype.

but giving up 5 mil is just conceding to the world that youve been a disappointment
