Saints coach Sean Payton didn't directly mention the Texans when asked about the play of his offense and if he expects a better showing against Wade Phillips' defense in today's preseason game. Instead, he spoke in generic terms of seeing improvement. "You want to see progress week-to-week," Payton said. "I think it is always important. You want to play well. You want to improve from the things you didn't do well the week before. It will be nothing different than the second week the last four or five years in preseason. I think they are going to have more playing time, number one, and get close to a half of football. Maybe just under that depending on the snaps." He also said he expects the starters to get 20-25 snaps. Of course, all of that could change depending on how he thinks those guys are performing. Source: The Times-Picayune
I don't dislike Gregg Williams. I dislike his scheme with our players. He's a blitz happy DC. I don't think we have the right personnel for what he wants to do.
That's not Williams' fault is it? He doesn't make personnel decisions. It should be up to the ownership to get players that fit their schemes.
Blame can be based on both. He can work around what he has. That's what the Hoodie does. He plays to his players strengths.
But BB has full control on what players he has because he's the head coach. Don't get me wrong Williams should be able to adjust a little. I'm just saying they should be getting him players that fit his system.
