The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to terms with cornerback Orlando Scandrick on a five-year extension worth $27 million with $10 million guaranteed, according to a source. Scandrick, a fifth-round pick in the 2008 NFL draft, has started just nine of 48 games in his career and compiled just two interceptions. However, Scandrick is viewed as a valued member of the secondary, and he's currently in the starting lineup with injuries to cornerbacks Mike Jenkins and Terence Newman. Scandrick was entering the last year of his contract and the team felt a need to lock up one of its younger players. Source: ESPN Dallas
Did not expect this but he is viewed as an insurance policy and possible successor to Terence Newman.
He was a mediocre nickel back in the slot, why would they pay him like a starter? Maybe jj is getting al davis syndrome.
Yes, Newman is gone next year and they project Scandrick as starter material. And if he pulls it off, that's a very reasonable salary for a good starting cornerback.
This is key right here.^^^^ I just don't know if he is starter material. I mean he started to show signs of being a starter at the end of last season... Just not sold on Scandrick yet. I hope he proves me wrong.
